Most people think of the moon as cold and harsh, but Tilly loved growing up among the other moon-birds. Tilly was an explorer. She knew every nook and cranny of their hemisphere. She knew the best places to sand-swim. She knew the easiest crags to climb, and how to launch herself off them without getting scraped or dirty. She could float longer than any of her brothers, and her sisters were too scared to even try. She even knew the quickest path to the dark side of the moon, where few dared to tread, how it was so cold there that you could barely move. Over time, she had knit herself clothing to explore in, and hid them in the cleft of a rock.  Every time she dared, she would slip her darkdress on, and venture farther and farther into the darkness. Her dream was to be able to walk all the way across it.
